University of Kerala was established on 1st November 1937 by a proclamation of the Maharaja of Travancore Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma.  It was the 16th University to be established in India and the first in the State of Kerala.The University at its very inception adopted as its motto “Karmani Vyajyate Prajna” a verse from the ancient Sanskrit  work Panchathanthra.        

 In doing so, it placed before the academic community a lofty and inspiring ideal, worth striving for in its pursuit of academic excellence.  Kerala University today is one of the largest Universities in the country with more than 70 affiliated colleges and numerous teaching/research departments.


Institute of Management in Kerala (IMK)

The Institute of Management in Kerala was established under the tutelage of the University of Kerala in the year 1991.  The Institute is located in the capital city of Kerala, Trivandrum amidst the lush green University Campus.  The Institute provides Masters as well as Doctoral Programmes in Business Management, in addition to various other courses like EDP and specialized certificate courses.

The protracted strides the Institute has made during this time has earned it a place  among the top B schools in India.  An excellent industrial interface both in terms of teaching and concerted activities along with a placement record, that provides an envious distinction, has raised the status of the institute as a “Centre for Excellence” in management training and development in Kerala.
